Gwenda LedBetter



Gwenda Ledbetter entered the national storytelling scene in 1979, with her first appearance at the National Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Fourteen years before that she was known as "The Storylady" in Asheville, because of her regular storytimes at Asheville's Pack Library and weekly appearances on the Mr. bill Show for WLOS-TV. Her creative life includes considerable stage work with storytelling, acting and singing. From her memoir of growing up on Virginia's Eastern Shore, she created a one-woman show, Friday's Father, which was produced at the NC Stage Company in 2006,  

Gwenda was honored with the Circle of Excellence Oracle Award. in 2006, by the National Storytelling Network.
